AWI funds featherweight fabric
AWI has joined forces with celebrated Australian designer Akira Isogawa to create a new feather-weight wool fabric which has the fashion world in raptures.
The 100 per cent Australian Merino fabric was developed in conjunction with AWI and Sydney-based knitter DPK, and features in Akira's new autumn/winter ready-to-wear collection, on show to international retail buyers in Paris from 2-8 March.
It's just one example of AWI's extensive research and development program. Ongoing product innovation and intensive research into animal husbandry practices help to make the Australian wool industry one of the strongest export industries in the world.
Mr Isogawa said: "AWI welcomed the challenge I presented to them. They embraced my idea to develop ultra-fine, ultra-soft, trans-seasonal wool products that I can use for both my autumn/winter and spring/summer collections."
